FJ
Shetlands
You wouldn't think there were many words starting with FJ. Or any, for that matter. Except for fjord, obviously. Top tip, then: don't play scrabble if you're going to the Shetlands for a break. They just might slip these words in and wipe the floor with you.
FJAAG, FJANDI - light, empty, airy stuff, and was applied jocularly to thin lean corn
And you thought there was no fun to be had at all from thin, lean corn. Fjaag and Fjandi killed in the Shetlands, back in the day. Big laughs!
FJAEDEMUR - Bad butter
Why use two words for your bad butter when just one will do? And it begins with FJ, so bonus!
FJAEDIN - whale
Not to be confused with Fjandi, a Fjaedin was a term for a whale, and meant 'fat animal'.
FJORA - Limpet bait
Yes, bait used to catch limpets. What do you mean there's no word in your language for limpet bait?
FJORCK - A jocular name for a very small person or child
I'm not sure the very small person or child would share in the laughs, mind. Being called a Fjorck was the equivalent of being called dwarf in English.
